The flow of waterways in Busan/South Korea stretches from streams via harbors to the open sea. Trying to understand the connections between them, I began to listen to places, holding the camera in focus, listening with lens, while simultaneously recording the environmental sounds with a hyper-sensitive microphone. The result is an exploration of place and space, a holding of breath and a giving way to relationality. The narrative in each film follows what a place has to say. Gradually flowing with sediments only slowly moving due to the slow current, the water streaming into the Yellow Sea carries an array of things left-behind in a slow-steadiness that rests between halting and rushing forward. Caught in the in-between of stay-and-go, these essays invite to ponder, observe and understand the lives that rests in its flow.
